Position Vacant - Apprentice Painter and Decorator
Work Winter in Perisher - Work the rest of the year in Canberra - Repeat … oh and gain a qualification for life
We have teamed up with Perisher in a first of its kind employment partnership program. This unique arrangement offers you the ability to work at Perisher during winter and then transition into ongoing employment in Canberra for the rest of the seasons.
As the ski season begins we will release you to work in Perisher and at the end of the season you will return to your employment with us.
In the process you will gain upon completion of the apprenticeship a Nationally Recognised Certificate 3 - General Construction in Painting and Decorating.
This position is only available to current Perisher Employees.
This is a Full Time (38 hours per week) 4 year apprenticeship (adjusted to allow for Winter).
You will be employed under the Modern Award MA000020 whilst working for Rick Maier Paint Plus.
You will receive training both on the job and at Canberra Institute of Technology or online via MIBT.
Tools and uniform will be provided.

- Your own Accommodation arrangements in the Canberra Area
- Current drivers licence and reliable vehicle
- Able to cope with the physical demands of the job
- Able to communicate effectively with fellow staff members and clients
- Able to work at heights
- Enjoy practical work
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Normal colour vision
- Steel cap boots
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- OH&S White Card and Asbestos Awareness training is highly desirable (this may be obtained prior to commencement if you don't already have this)
- Working with Vulnerable People registration is highly desirable (this may be obtained prior to commencement if you don't already have this)
